Imagine waking to the sight of the
snow-capped Tararuas glowing pink in the morning
sunlight. Below the balcony you stand on, silver green
olive trees stretch to the north. If it is spring, a
bed of daffodils waves at you. In the summer, the bed
is of warm, sweet lavender…
Well, we can’t offer the perfect weather all year round,
but here at River Grove we can offer you self-contained,
two bedroom accommodation in the Gatehouse.
Steven and Chris at River Grove would
like to welcome you to the Gatehouse. Downstairs you
will find a kitchen area equipped with two gas burners
and a microwave oven. We are happy to supply a
continental breakfast if you wish. The living area
contains a full-size dining table and lounge suite with
television. Also downstairs is the bathroom containing
a shower and separate toilet. Upstairs are two bedrooms,
one twin and one with a queen bed and a single bed.
This room has a balcony offering magnificent views towards the
Tararua Ranges.
We lie on the banks of the Ruamahunga
River, great for swimming in the summer, or bring your
fishing gear if you fancy a trout for your tea! We are
also close to many pleasant walking tracks and less than
half an hour by car from the Tararuas if tramping is
your thing. The beaches at Castlepoint and Riversdale
are a slightly longer hour’s journey to the east. And
for those who may be in the area for an equestrian
event, we can also accommodate your horses on an “all
care, no responsibility” basis.
River Grove offers a rural setting
close to town. We are less than four kilometres from
the Genesis Energy Recreation Centre and indoor swimming
pool, Queen Elizabeth Park the CBD and the fine cafes
and restaurants Masterton can offer. Beautiful Henley
Lake and the hospital are less than 2.5kms away. We are
also close to most of Masterton’s boarding schools.
So, whether you are visiting
Masterton for one the Wairarapa’s many fine events or
just for a weekend away, please call. You are welcome
to inspect the Gatehouse. Our rates are $150.00 per
night for two people plus $10.00 per extra person per
night. These rates include GST. Unfortunately we are
unable to accept credit cards but we are happy to take
your cheque or supply our bank account details.
